Bike Signals
Have some safe bike riding tonight by being seen.
Hokey Spokes are available in range of colours - Red, Orange, Yellow and Blue with an additional special design of Rainbow.
Bike Signals. Keep your hands steady and indicate your next turn.
White and green are available but we dont have any in stock at this time. If you would like these colours please drop us an email.
As you can see from our photo's they make some spectacular displays which are difficult to miss. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 Hokey Spokes are purchased per wheel. This will ensure your wheels remain balanced and a minimum effect will be achieved by the LED units. The great thing with the Hokey Spokes is that they actually communicate with each other and so will synchronise with the other units on the same wheel so that they all display the same pattern. We have found out by using them ourselves and talking to Hokey Spokes USA that 3 - 4 units per wheel give the best results. The units will fit onto any road or mountain bike with wheel diameter of 24" or greater.
Notes -
Always use new or fully charged batteries-Most if not all faults, occur from low battery power.
Hokey Spokes can last for up to about 48 hours on a new set of
batteries.
Each unit takes x3 AA sized batteries.
Each unit is water proof to protect the batteries and
circuitry.
Each unit weighs 6oz inc batteries.
Full instructions included with all units.

Special Note:- Images taken with a camera may differ from what may be seen in reality and naked eye. They still look cool though.

Q) Why do your Hokey Spokes come on all by themselves?
A) In 2001 when the Hokey Spokes were developed the designer decided to use a particular frequency so that the spokes could communicate with each other on the bike wheel. The signal decided upon and consequently used was 38 KHz, and at the time apparently few devices were using it. Now, in past 8 years this 38 KHz signal has become much more popular and is being transmitted by an army of devices and it is now bouncing merrily around everywhere.
When the Hokey Spokes are turned off using the little button they aren’t actually turned off, they are only powered down because the spokes contain a capacitor and are fed by a trickle charge. Because the Hokey Spokes are technically live all the time when they have a power source they are susceptible to switching themselves on for what seems no apparent reason. The reason that they come on is that they have been hit by a random 38KHz signal.
Cure for this situation when Hokey Spokes are not in use is to unscrew the cap until the last screw thread. The down side to this. If you have programmed any text into the spoke, that text will be lost the next time it is turned on.
Note. You only have to programme one spoke for any group of spokes per wheel. You can use a different text message on the other wheel.
Q) My Hokey Spokes won’t turn off
A) This is the internal capacitor doing its job too well. Remove the batteries from the Hokey Spoke and then press the pwr button. This will discharge the capacitor and then you can re-insert the batteries for normal operation.
Another reason why they don’t or won’t turn off is that both blue buttons – pwr/sel were pressed at the same putting the spoke into the programme mode. Press the pwr / sel buttons at the same time again will take them out of the programming mode.
